
Our Carpentry instructor is Roger Levasseur. Mr. Levasseur has worked as a Licensed Class "A" builder for 35 years. He has extensive experience building and remodeling homes. He was active in his high school and looks forward to working with young people.


We're continuing our instructor intros today! Our Fire Science instructor Captain Bobby Elliott. He has been a firefighter since 1985 and holds a BA in Fire Science. He served in the U.S. Army Reserve as a Drill Instructor as well. @CatecFire

Ronald Moore is our Auto Body Tech instructor for high school & adult ed. Mr. Moore is a graduate of Nashville Auto Diesel College & spent 9 years as a technician as an Auto Body Technology professional. For 20+ years, he has taught students in the Automotive Body Tech industry.


Our Electricity instructor is Tommy Farrer. Mr. Farrer grew up in Cville, graduating from CHS. He is also a 2x CATEC grad! He worked for UVA Facilities Management for 20+ years. Today, he teaches for both the high school & Adult Education and Apprenticeship programs. @CATEC_Adult

Dr. Smyth is our Vet Science instructor. She is a small animal vet who graduated from the U of G’s College of Veterinary Medicine. She practiced small animal medicine in PA & the Charlottesville area for many years. She looks forward to meeting her new students! @CatecVetscience


We're continuing w/ our instructor intros. Jessica Carter-Payne is our Nurse Assistant instructor. Just like her students, she earned her CNA certification at 16 while in high school & has worked in healthcare ever since, obtaining her Bachelor's degree at Liberty University.


We're also introducing our Auto Service Tech instructor Matt Richardson. With nearly 20 years' experience, he's a certified ASE Master Technician & Certified Safety Inspector. Demand for class is so high he is teaching an early morning block to train as many technicians as he can


We're also introducing our Culinary Arts instructor Josh Davis. Chef Davis graduated from the Culinary Institute of America & brings lots of experience working in restaurants to the class. He is excited to see his returning students and meeting his new students! @CulinaryCatec


We're rolling out instructor introductions! Today we're kicking it off by introducing our Cosmetology instructors Karen Brown and Jackie Waller. Both Ms. Brown and Ms. Waller are CATEC graduates so they know first hand what it's like to be a CATEC student! @CATEC_Cos

CATEC’s Siller Pollinator Company bees produced their first batch of honey! Did you know we had two hives thriving on CATEC property near the Cultivate Charlottesville gardens? We’re looking forward to seeing what wonderful culinary creations our Culinary Arts program will come up with using the honey.

Congratulations to two 2022 Automotive Service Technology graduates who passed their Virginia State Inspection Licenses! This license makes graduates more marketable in the workplace. Well done Shawn and Case!


Another big shout out to one of our summer hires, Electricity student Zion Gant-Washington. Zion will be returning to CATEC next year for Electricity 2. He always brings a smile to everyone’s face when you talk to him.


Big shout out to 2022 CATEC Fire Science grad Carter Hall! At CATEC, we don’t just hire out to local businesses, we hire for our own school too! Carter, an AHS graduate, leaves for Army basic training this fall. In the meantime, he’s working at CATEC to make our building look amazing when school starts again! Thank you Carter! And we love the haircut.
