It's been an interesting week in CATEC's Nurse Assistant class this week. Students got a little dirty yesterday playing in pudding that mimics bodily waste. They practiced using effective infection control measures while removing gloves.

Just a friendly reminder that CATEC follows ACPS's new cell phone policy. Students should have their phones away in classrooms, hallways, restrooms, and locker rooms during the school day. Our "Be Professional" mantra aligns with this exercise in professionalism.


Nurse Assistant students practiced understanding the physical symptoms of being geriatric. Students tired on glasses that distorted vision, wore weights to feel heaviness in the body, & applied muscle controls to feel prohibited movment. #catec

Mr. Levasseur’s AM Carpentry class wasted no time this morning getting their hands on tools and supplies. We get working with hands right away at CATEC!

John Baran is our Math instructor. Dr. Baran grew up in PA before moving to Cville as a teenager. He is a CHS grad, as well as a "Triple Hoo" having earned his Bachelors, Masters, & Doctorate from UVA. Previously he taught Math & Social Studies at MHS & Community Lab. @BaranMind


David Topper is our Social Studies and Personal Finance instructor. He's a Charlottesville native who has a BA in History from the College of Charleston, where he played soccer and rugby. He's worked at State Farm as well as AHS.


Now let's meet our Academics Team! Kicking it off is our English instructor Megan Panek. She has a BA in English & German & an ME from the University of New Hampshire. She taught in person in WI as well as online. She loves integrating English with the trades.


Welcome to the 2022-2023 School Year! We're excited to welcome back our returning students and can't wait to meet our new students. CATEC faculty and staff is looking forward to a great school year.


Our EMT instructor is Cat Gardner. Mrs. Gardner has been in the Emergency Medical field for since 2000, with 14 years as an active provider, overlapping with 15 years as an EMS Instructor. She was a first responder at the Pentagon on September 11, 2001.
