Did you know that all CATEC students participate in monthly sessions with our Career Development Specialist Mrs. Jay? Students analyze jobs postings, develop brands, write resumes, & practice job interview skills as part of our work-based learning opportunities.



On Tuesday, Oct 25 CATEC’s Nurse Assistant class will be hosting a Red Cross blood drive in our auditorium 9am-3pm for students and staff. Students who are 16 need parent consent. Students 17+ do not. Sign up using the QR code on the flyer. See Ms Carter-Payne with questions.

Meet our second September Profile of a CATEC Student: Joseph Gibson, a junior @k12albemarle @WAHS_Crozet who's studying Electricity 2. He's worked as an electrician's helper & is looking forward to entering the industry upon graduation & follow in his family's footsteps.

Meet our first September Profile of a CATEC Student: Ava Dees-Kuttner, a junior @CvilleSchools @CHSBlackKnights who is studying Fire Science @CatecFire. Encouraged by her friends who took the class last year, she's enjoying learning more about the field & getting hands-on skills.


Our mural is really coming together thanks to our United Way Day of Caring volunteers Candance M.P. Smith Architect firm. We're looking forward to adding on to it this year to showcase CATEC's value to our community.




CATEC's Culinary Arts program will be kicking off its first Technical Eats food bus event on Thursday, September 29th in the CATEC parking lot 11am-2pm. Don't pack your lunch that day- come out to support our program and grab some comfort food.


We're blown away by our community support in being named the best vocational school in Charlottesville in the annual Charlottesville's Finest from #Charlottesville Radio Group. It's a great honor!





CATEC High School programs will be closed on Monday, September 26th for teacher professional development. Enjoy your long weekend and we'll see you on Tuesday, September 27th for regular classes.


Did you know CATEC offers academic classes in Math, English, Government, and Personal Finance? CATEC's Carpentry students reviewed area and volume yesterday and had to make 1’ cubes with our Math Instructor Dr. John Baran. @BaranMind

CATEC opened its doors in 1973 & this spring we're celebrating our 50th anniversary of serving the Charlottesville community. This summer we received an undated CATEC yearbook from the 1970s. We'll be spotlighting some of our programs in Throwback Thursdays throughout the year. Halloween house of horrors? Nope- a typical day in CATEC's Nurse Assistant program. Students handled the ick with grace and care. Earlier this week they worked on bloodborne pathogen prevention by properly cleaning up bodily fluids.
