It's National Apprenticeship Week! We're celebrating by sharing info about our HS students who are out on internship this year, earning high school credit and income at the same time. These real-world job experiences are what make CATEC important in our community. #NAW2022

Today we commemorated Veterans Day with guest speakers who talked about the history of the Day and how CATEC programs align with military careers. Thank you Retired US Army Veteran Sal Gomez, SSGT Perry from the US Army, and SSG Lance from the US Marines for joining us.

Getting a little hungry for lunch? Check out these delicious chicken piccata entrees our @CulinaryCatec students made. Still figuring out your Thanksgiving meal plan? Purchase your dessert through the Culinary Arts program!

ACPS School Board Vice-Chair Katrina Callsen took this beautiful picture of the sky above CATEC during the lunar eclipse on Tuesday. What a cool photo of our school! Thank you, Ms. Callsen!

This is the final reminder to get in our Veterans stories to Ms. Wood in the front office today! We want to hear your stories! CATEC has a proud tradition of training students in fields that prepare them for military service. This year, we are hosting a Veterans Day celebration for our students to learn more about the observance and find out how CATEC programs support military training. As part of that, we are including a slideshow of family members, staff, and alumni who have served. Please help us make this a great learning opportunity for our students. To be included, share the abovementioned information with Liz Wood at lwood5@k12albemarle.org. Please call CATEC at 434-973-4461 if you have questions.

November is National Career Development Month. Did you know CATEC provides all of its students with work-based learning mentorship with instructor Mrs. Jay? Each month students meet with her in the Career and Counseling Corner to learn, evaluate, and practice workplace readiness skills. CATEC's Be Professional motto creates opportunities for students to write resumes, create their brands, think like employers, and interview with professionals in their industries.

Our Nurse Assistant students practiced infant CPR today.

EMT students at both the WAHS campus and CATEC campus had the opportunity to practice bleeding control using a tourniquet trainer that pumped artificial blood from a wound. This training experience allows students the opportunity to practice a real world skill in a setting.

Culinary Arts students got in the early holiday fun by planning out Thanksgiving desserts, doing kitchen inventory, and making test runs of their picks. Even our Director Mrs. Carter got in on the action. @CulinaryCatec
