Cosmetology

We love highlighting our alumni who are successfully working in our community. Ally Carver graduated from CATEC’s Cosmetology program in May 2017 as a junior at Western Albemarle High School. She started working as a Licensed Cosmetologist for Georgetown West Salon, a full-service salon located in Crozet, right away in June 2017. She is grateful for her time at CATEC because it taught her professionalism and strong communication and consultation skills as well as the foundation of Cosmetology that she still uses to this day.

Since graduating from CATEC, she has been building on the skills she learned during class and has loved watching her confidence grow. She says that Cosmetology is an art and has to be practiced daily to learn new skills. She says she strives every day to learn techniques to make the work smarter not harder.

Her best advice to students in CATEC Cosmetology right now is to not be discouraged that you are new because you are learning and practicing the foundational skills you need to be professional. Listen to your teachers because these skills will carry you throughout your professional career.
