Day of Caring

Charlottesville-Albemarle Technical Education Center (CATEC) is partnering with Candace M.P. Smith Architect, PC for its annual United Way’s Day of Caring event on Wednesday, September 21, 2022. Representatives from the firm will be painting a storage building and creating the foundational artwork for an outdoor mural on CATEC’s campus.

The artwork will eventually become a one-of-a-kind piece reflective of the Charlottesville community as well as CATEC’s positive impact on our local workforce. The work the firm does on September 21 is part of a multi-year plan that will see the mural grow as CATEC continues to grow, including the addition of a new CATEC logo celebrating the school’s 50th anniversary in 2023.

For this year, the upgrades to CATEC’s grounds will continue to enhance CATEC’s appeal as a community hub of activity. CATEC Director Stephanie Carter says of the project, “We are looking forward to working with Candace M.P. Smith Architect on Wednesday, but we’re also looking forward to continuing to build our legacy in the community as we approach our 50th year in Charlottesville.”
