Maintenance Foreman

CATEC is looking for a Maintenance Foreman for the 2020-21 school year.

We are a small, close-knit staff of approximately 30 professionals who are committed to preparing our students for the workforce as we have been doing since 1973. What you will be doing:

This is a full-time position, so you will be working 260 days a year, 8 hours a day. You will be handling, and also supervising a team of facilities support staff in, all areas of maintenance at CATEC: HVAC, plumbing, carpentry, electrical, and grounds.

What qualifications we need you to have as Maintenance Foreman:

  • Completion of high school, vocational school, or equivalent

  •  At least four years of experience in building maintenance and repair work

  • Three years of supervising trade employees

  • Two years of computer skills are preferred

  • Special requirements:

    • valid Commonwealth of Virginia driver’s license

    • negative tuberculin test

    • negative drug test

  • Must be able to read and follow instructions in English

What skills, experience, and knowledge we want you to have:

  • methods, materials, tools, and practices of general maintenance repairs and one or more skilled trades

  • building systems including one or more of the following: water, sewer, electrical, HVAC, sprinkler, and alarm systems

  • techniques, tools, methods, practices, procedures, and materials related to grounds maintenance

  • laws and regulations governing the operation of equipment and materials

  • principles and procedures to assign work, schedule, supervise, train, evaluate, and motivate the work of assigned staff

  • current and accepted occupational safety and health practices and principles to include federal and state safety regulations
