ESL/SPED Teaching Assistant (high school)
CATEC is seeking a full-time ESL/SPED Teaching Assistant (high school) for the 2017-18 school year. We are looking for individuals with experience working with special education/ESL students; the ability to speak Spanish, as well as being culturally responsive, is preferred. In addition, we want this teaching assistant to be: able to develop and maintain an empathetic attitude toward disabled/ESL students; willing to learn specialized instructional/management techniques employed with disabled/ESL students; and able to communicate and develop effective working relationships with students, parents, and staff. This TA must be a high school graduate or hold equivalence of a high school diploma. Salary is based on Albemarle County Teacher 2017-18 pay scale and years of experience. Adult Painting Instructor
CATEC has a job opening for a part-time painting (residential/commercial) instructor. The position is to lead a three-hour class two nights per week for five week sessions. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years’ experience in the painting trade with experience in commercial, residential and new construction. Experience in multiple trades, prior teaching experience and competency in the Spanish language preferred.
The position will require significant input in the development of a new curriculum as well as coordination of student job shadowing experiences.
The course is scheduled to run for five weeks. Pay is $27.50 per classroom hour.
