CATEC mourns the loss of a dedicated employee who contributed many years of service to CATEC. Mrs. Mary N. Shifflett, 85, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 19, 2020. She was born on August 13, 1934 in Lynchburg, Virginia. She and her husband, Edward Shifflett, were both CATEC employees for almost 50 combined years. Mrs. Shifflett began working at CATEC as its Housekeeper in 1975, joining her husband, who was CATEC’s Maintenance Mechanic beginning in 1973. The Shiffletts retired together in 1998. Mrs. Shifflett is remembered by CATEC faculty as an “outstanding ambassador for CATEC and was always looking out for the best interests of CATEC. She was extremely conscientious, knowledgeable, and a team player.” Both Mr. and Mrs. Shifflett were added to CATEC’s Wall of Fame in 2011, which recognizes outstanding individuals who contributed to CATEC’s success.
