Call For CATEC Foundation Board Directors

Dear CATEC and CTE Advocate:

In January 2020, new Board Directors will be appointed to the Board of Directors of the Charlottesville-Albemarle Technical Education Foundation, Inc.  We are seeking nominations and/or recommendations to be reviewed by our Board Development Committee for the purpose of identifying candidates for CATEC Foundation Board service. We are requesting you give thoughtful consideration to individuals you believe would be ideal candidates.

The next several years promise to be exciting ones for Charlottesville-Albemarle Technical Education Foundation, Inc.  The organization will continue to have a positive impact on Career and Technical Education in connection with Charlottesville-Albemarle Technical Education Center.  Prospective candidates should have previous experience working on/with a board and current community engagement.  As you consider nominations or recommendations, we ask that you review the Board of Directors position description. Board Directors will be asked to serve a three-year term and participate on an ongoing basis in a committee on the board.

 The primary responsibilities of Board Directors are:  major endowment management; fund raising; scholarship awards administration; assisting the advancement of career and technical education and training that supports businesses, professionals, and aspiring trades-people in Central Virginia; connecting with local businesses and industries to help ensure area training programs meet their needs; promoting public education programs that provide career and technical training in Central Virginia, ensuring schools gain an understanding of the needs of area employees; supporting career training for local students, professionals, and aspiring trades-people who need assistance; and lastly, advocating and facilitating job placement for those completing public education programs in the trades.

 Since its founding, Charlottesville-Albemarle Technical Education Foundation, Inc. has been recognized as an effective provider of support to CATEC, having a real impact within the community.  We invite you to become a part of this growing tradition.
