SkillsUSA State Competition
On Saturday, April 24th, several CATEC students traveled to Hampton, Virgina to competed in the SkillsUSA state competitions. CATEC was well represented and our students did an excellent job in their respective competitions. The following students received awards:

Margaret Bell, Ryan Lynch and Kelly Harris – Community Service – 2nd
Jessica Boling – Job Interview – 4th
Olivia Winston – Baking – 5th
Jacob Brubeck will travel to Kansas City in June to compete in the national competition.
Nurse Aide Students Excel in HOSA Competitions
Ms. Woodson, Nurse Aide instructor, and thirteen of her students, headed to Williamsburg on Friday, March 12th, to attend the Virginia Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) 30th Anniversary Leadership Conference and Competitions. The Nursing students attended conference events and participated in various competitions. Congratulations to all the participants! The following students received awards:

Taylor Scott - State Finalist in Public Health and Emergency Preparedness
Jodi Morris - Technology Award for Outstanding Service
Tiffany Harris - Technology Award for Outstanding Service
Kira Goodwin - Awareness Award for Outstanding Performance
Taylor Groff - Awareness Award for Outstanding Performance
The Nurse Aide class also received a Certificate of Excellence for Chapter Newsletter, and a Certificate in "grateful recognition and appreciation for outstanding community service and activities related to celebrating HOSA."
Fuel Your Future Tour
On Wednesday, March 31st, the Fuel Your Future Tour made a stop at CATEC. Famed professional airbrush artist Richard Markham brought three of his famous custom cars in a 75 foot trailer, which also serves as a classroom. Markham is also an instructor at Ohio Technical College, in their Custom Paint and Graphics program. The automotive students were treated to demonstrations, videos, and discussions with Markham. The Newsplex and NBC29 covered the event.
Toolbox for Education
SkillsUSA has selected CATEC’s Automotive Service Technology program as a recipient of a “Toolbox for Education” package provided by Lowe’s. The toolbox is valued at $1,100 and contains various Kobalt tools. Click here for more information.
Haitian Relief Fundraiser
On January 26th, the CATEC Culinary Arts class held a fundraiser to benefit the American Red Cross Haitian Relief effort. More than 250 people enjoyed a delicious Haitian meal prepared by the students, and $3,000 was raised for the Red Cross. A good time was had by all! CATEC would like to thank all the people who came to dinner and gave so generously for this important cause. Special thanks to Mr. Bob Bressan and his class for all their hard work.
